I am trying to raise money on my house and I have a small mortgage of 75k with a big chunk of 275k of equity left.

I have also tried to raise money on my (unmortgaged £350k value) 4 Apartments plus a Shop Retail unit below them.

It seems that as they have a shop under them, no one is prepared to offer me a mortgage against them, strange!?!

The House re-mortgage has come up with two problems,

i) one is my age being 54yrs they will not lend me more than
a 16yr term, which makes borrowing expensive to say the
least.

ii) The other is I have been self employed all my life and
lots of Mortgage Companies seem to think you are the scum
of the earth, yes they all want to talk and fill out forms
but when it comes down to the nitty gritty, no good!

It's a mine field out there, any help will be very appreciated.

Graeme

Have you tried our mortgage service? Please cut and paste this link:

http://www.netrentmortgages.co.uk/

or click on the Mortgages link at the bottom of this page

or just ring 029 2069 5466

From the basics you've posted this shouldn't be hugely difficult to place but it's fair to say that lenders are being a problem
