A local authority says the fact that it has conducted no prosecutions against private landlords despite over 1,100 complaints from tenants is a sign of good news.
Wakefield council received more than 1,100 complaints from tenants about their landlords between 2018 and 2021 according to a Freedom of Information request made by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
However, the local authority has not prosecuted any landlords – instead, it issued formal notices to property owners to force them to take action, and as all were complied with there was no need to prosecute.
