Tenants are being warned to be vigilant when looking for somewhere new to live in the wake of a rise in rental scams.
The National Landlords Association (NLA) said it’s seen an increase in the number of people who have been the target of fraudulent activity when searching for new accommodation.
Such scams trick people into paying an advance fee to rent a property and, in many instances it said fraudsters have used NLA branding and fake letters from Local Representatives to add legitimacy and lure their victims in to a false sense of security.
