A new law on fire and smoke alarms is set to come into action next month, meaning that all homeowners in Scotland need to upgrade their current systems to fit with the new rules.

All homes in Scotland must have interlinked fire and smoke alarms installed from February 1 in a bid to protect homeowners and tenants alike.

Privately rented and new-build homes may already meet these standards, but from February they will apply to every home in Scotland so it’s time to check that your house complies with the rules.
