Buy To Let Still Attractive Despite Tax Relief Blow

Despite the announcement in the summer budget that mortgage interest tax relief is to be phased out for landlords over the next four years, the demand for rental properties in the UK remains strong and is expected only to rise.

Recent research by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has predicted that 25 per cent of properties over the next five years will be rented out, meaning that landlords will have a ready supply of tenants for their property portfolios.

In addition, a few lenders have now started offering limited company buy to let finance products and many more are expected to follow suit offering landlords a more tax efficient way of investing in the buy to let market under the new tax regime.

There are many different types of buy to let financial products on the market, so it is worth landlords consulting with financial advisors and business development managers to find the best type of finance for their circumstances.

The buy to let market in the UK is far too large and important to lenders and indeed the government to be allowed to fail, and we expect to see many new finance products available in the near future to ensure the success of the private rental sector.
