The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has launched a new survey of letting agents and private landlords in England.
The last time there was such a survey was in 2010.
Yesterday, the link went to what was described as the final version, but it looked slightly odd to us, and it was very unclear as to whether it can only be completed by selected agents and landlords. We have asked questions, but so far without any response.
The Ministry says that landlords and agents who are protecting a deposit in one of the authorised schemes are randomly chosen to participate, and will be written to by the scheme concerned.
Questions asked include membership of bodies including ARLA and NALS; the possible impact of legislative and tax changes on the sector; and types of tenants that agents and landlords let to. Some questions relate to tenants on benefit, and why landlords and agents may be unwilling to let to these households.
