As a landlord of assured shorthold tenants, the options usually available if your tenants do not pay rent have been severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, even if the non-payment of rent is not a direct result of the pandemic.
The Government has extended the notice period landlords are required to give in section 8 and section 21 notices. Possession proceedings and evictions have been banned since March, which is currently set to continue until 20 September 2020 and could be extended further.
